Self-assessment

A nine-question self-assessment.

These nine questions are a reflection tool, not a clinical test. Answer honestly for yourself, or on behalf of someone you love. Nothing is saved, nothing is sent, and you can close the page at any point.

  1. 01Do you spend an excessive amount of time thinking about or engaging in a body-focused addictive behavior?
  2. 02Do you continue to engage in this behavior despite experiencing negative consequences?
  3. 03Do you struggle with managing the behavior, including unsuccessful attempts to stop?
  4. 04Do you set aside occupational, academic, or family/personal responsibilities in favor of participating in the behavior?
  5. 05Do you use the behavior to cope with difficult emotions, feelings, or situations?
  6. 06Do you minimize or downplay the severity of the behavior to yourself or others?
  7. 07Have you developed a tolerance, meaning a need to increase the frequency or intensity of the behavior to feel satisfied?
  8. 08Do you experience emotional withdrawal when the behavior is stopped or avoided?
  9. 09Are you concerned that avoiding or stopping the behavior might lead to other mental-health difficulties, such as anxiety, irritability, depression, or substance use?
